2. Permiso o peticiones corteses:
Might I have a word with you? ¿Podría hablar un momento
con usted?
En este tipo de expresiones es más frecuente emplear may; might tiene carácter más formal. Puede indicar también cierta timidez o vacilación en la petición.
3. En estilo indirecto, equivalente a mayen el directo:
«May I go to the party?», she asked «¿Puedo ir a la fiesta?», preguntó (estilo directo)
She asked if she might go to the party Preguntó si podía ir a la fiesta (estilo indirecto)
