Algunos de estos adverbios, como bright, cheap, loud y slow, tienen una forma alternativa terminada en -/y, por lo que puede decirse también to shine brightly, to buy cheaply, to drive slowly o to shout loudly; otros, en cambio, como dead, fast, pretty, silly y straight, tienen esa única forma.
Good (bueno) y bad (malo) funcionan como adverbios con el significado de «bien» y «mal», respectivamente, con algunos verbos de percepción, como to smell (oler) y to taste (saber):
